About the Role

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the company’s IT infrastructure to ensure reliable operations, strong security, and optimal system performance. You will manage servers, networks, virtualization environments, and cloud services while helping maintain a stable and secure IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux-based servers, including Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS.

• Perform routine system updates, security patches, and server hardening to maintain a secure infrastructure.

• Install, configure, and support essential services such as DNS, web servers, VPNs, PBX systems, and Nextcloud.

• Manage user accounts, access permissions, storage capacity, and system resource allocation.

• Oversee virtual machine operations, including provisioning, backup management, migration, and lifecycle maintenance.

• Administer cloud infrastructure and services across platforms such as Hetzner and AWS.

• Configure, manage, and maintain network equipment, firewalls, routers, and VPN connections.

• Maintain network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN environments, VLANs, routing, and connectivity.

• Investigate and resolve network disruptions, connectivity problems, and other infrastructure-related incidents.

• Review and enforce firewall rules and VPN access policies to maintain network security.

• Monitor system activity, logs, and security events to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.

• Maintain backup solutions, regularly validate recovery processes, and ensure data can be restored when needed.

• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives.

• Configure and maintain monitoring platforms such as Grafana and Prometheus.

• Develop monitoring strategies, configure alerts, and identify potential issues before they affect operations.

• Automate routine administration and maintenance tasks using Bash, Python, or PowerShell scripts.

• Provide advanced technical assistance and resolve complex infrastructure-related issues.

• Coordinate with internal departments and external service providers to support IT operations.

• Keep technical documentation, infrastructure records, and network diagrams accurate and up to date.

• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, technology transitions, and system migration projects.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in Systems Administration, IT Infrastructure, or a comparable role.

• Strong practical knowledge of Linux server administration and maintenance.

• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing.

• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, preferably Proxmox.

• Experience configuring and managing MikroTik routers, firewalls, and network security rules.

• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and visualization tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.

• Scripting and automation experience with Bash and Python; knowledge of PowerShell is an advantage.

• Basic understanding of Windows Server administration and related services.
